How to Buy Creed Perfume on a Budget

Aventus, Green Irish Tweed and Silver Mountain Water for less: pre-loved bottles, batch codes, sizes and how to avoid fakes.

Old copper perfume stills in France

Creed sits at the expensive end of luxury fragrance, and Aventus is a frequent target for counterfeiters. Buying Creed on a budget means paying attention to price and to authenticity at the same time.

Start with pre-loved bottles

Creed fans often own several bottles and sell partly used ones to make room for new releases. That keeps a steady supply of pre-loved Aventus, Green Irish Tweed, Silver Mountain Water, Viking and others on the resale market. A partial bottle of Creed can cost a fraction of a new one and still last for months of regular wear, since a little goes a long way.

Choose a smaller size

Creed sells its fragrances in several sizes, from smaller bottles up to large flacons for serious fans. The smallest size has the lowest entry price, though usually the highest price per ml. If you already know you love a scent, a partly used large bottle can be the best value of all. Gift sets and travel atomizers also appear on the resale market.

Know the line

Most Creed fragrances are sold as eau de parfum, so concentration matters less than with designer houses. The bigger choice is which fragrance you want. Aventus and Aventus for Her are the best-known. Green Irish Tweed, Silver Mountain Water, Millésime Impérial, Original Santal and Viking each have loyal followings. Some Creed fragrances have been discontinued over the years, and the resale market is often the only place to find them.

Batch codes matter more with Creed

Creed bottles and boxes carry batch codes, and fans have long discussed differences between batches of Aventus, with some people looking for specific codes. Ask for clear photos of the code on both the bottle and the box, and check that they match. CheckFresh and similar tools may help estimate a production date. A batch code is easy to copy, so it proves nothing about authenticity on its own.

Avoid counterfeits

Aventus fakes are common. Be wary of prices far below other listings, sloppy printing on labels or boxes, caps that feel light or sit unevenly, and sprayers that look cheap. Ask for photos taken by the seller in natural light. For any significant Creed purchase, a FoS Verified listing is worth it, because the bottle is inspected at a Feelings of Scent hub before it ships to you.

Do the price per milliliter math

Divide the listing price by the milliliters left. As an example, a 100 ml Aventus at 55% full holds about 55 ml. Listed at $187, it works out to $3.40 per ml. Compare that with the current per-ml price for the same size on Creed's own site and with other listings. Inspired-by fragrances from other brands are a different product. If you want Creed, compare Creed with Creed.

Use offers and price alerts

Set a price alert on Feelings of Scent for the Creed fragrance and size you want, then make a fair offer when a listing gets close to your target. With bottles at Creed prices, even a modest offer can save a real amount, and buyers pay no buyer fee.

Creed bottles worth watching

  • Aventus: pineapple, birch and musk, the house bestseller.
  • Green Irish Tweed: green, violet leaf and sandalwood, a long-running classic.
  • Silver Mountain Water: fresh, tea-like and metallic.
  • Aventus for Her: fruity, green and rosy.
  • Millésime Impérial: salty citrus and musk for summer.
